Monoculars
A night vision monocular is a device with only one eyepiece and one objective. It amplifies weak background light or infrared light into a visible image through a single lens. The monocular is significantly smaller and lighter than light intensifier binoculars, making it easier to carry and handle, especially for long periods of time.
Focusing a monocular is very simple, you only need to adjust one lens according to the distance of the object to get a clear image. This feature can save time and energy and avoid missing observation opportunities. A monocular also leaves one eye free for natural vision or other tasks. This versatility allows users to maintain situational awareness without removing the device.
Because a monocular provides vision through only one eye, depth perception may be somewhat reduced compared to binoculars, especially in complex or dynamic environments.
